The Fun Update

We’ve been busy working on the game and what have we added? Acorn Throwing. You can now throw acorns at houses, windows, trees, and of course, you can throw acorns at people you don’t like! Oh, and we may have an “enemy” in the game now? WHAT!

We are absolutely thrilled with how well the acorn animation looks as well as the physics involved (not that any of you would really care.) But we care, oh yes, we care. Now to make this all functional, we needed to update our inventory system to include the ability to equip items. And, well… during that process Matthew decided to entirely redo all the visuals of the menu as well as a ton of new features! Let’s take a look:

You may notice that there is a control scheme set up now in our settings. That’s because you can now customize your own control schemes as well as save your favorite as a preset! That isn’t all we have added…

That’s right! You can now change the volume in game!!! I know, we are geniuses aren’t we? I won’t say who, but a certain person working on the game thinks it’s a good idea to keep their PC volume at 100% at all times. So rather than continue to force hearing damage upon them, we decided to give them an alternative solution.

Not only does the menu look better, but it sounds better too! We added two new early versions of the pause menu song to the game as well! Why two? Because in our game there are day cycles and night cycles, and each cycle has a unique version of the same song for that time of day. We also decided to move the ability to save from the pause menu to now, specific points around the world. But of course, we have new UI for this system and as always, Matthew crushed it.

UI is cool and all but let’s get back to the stuff everyone loves the most, GAMEPLAY. While we are keeping gameplay stuff pretty lowkey, we do have an… “enemy” encounter now! By enemy, I mean a dog that is friendly during the day (which I didn’t bother to show off in this update maybe later, sorry). But at night the dog will chase you until it gets you or you lose it.

Don’t worry you can knock down the end table to try to slow it down and you can vault over it!

The last major thing I want to cover is the fact that we released our first video on YouTube! It is a look at 5 songs, each will play on a different day during the week of our game! It even comes with a neat visualizer made in our game! Take a look and enjoy!
